Corporate Politics

Every day and every scenario helps me realize that the politics involved in corporate america (aka "The Workforce") can be down right comical. You never know when your boss will have an emotional breakdown and take it out on you, a coworker will resign unexpectedly or if you'll even want the job anymore- never mind the failing economy.
So how does one do it for so long? Unfortunately I cannot even answer that, but I find myself wondering he same thing...  Of course job longevity is the goal, but when has one had enough? When is it not worth it? Is it just about the money and therefore a means of monetary satisfaction and nothing more? None of these questions have true correct answers. Just some thoughts.
It now seems more common to find an unconventional career. The idea of being a business owner seems more plausible than it did to our parents. Are we the new "Generation X"? Or is it safe to say that at such young ages we are just plain- tired? I digress.... now on the the real details:

The other day, my boss, did something that surprised me. He stated that a project, that I have been managing for six months prior to him coming to the company, was his "responsibility" and that "at the end of the day I will make all final decisions". Now, the comments weren't so bad. The part that was offensive was when he slammed his hand down on MY desk in MY office and he made these statements. Hmmm... was he having a machismo moment? I think so.

So, I bet your saying "If you feel this way, what do you plan to DO about it?". Truthfully, I do not plan in doing anything.... My mother once told me: "Who can't hear will have to feel". That- divas is my course of action. I really cannot SAY how I truly feel (without risking being insubordinate) so I choose to allow him all access to manage this project on his own. I will ask him to make every final decision, direct all inquiries and email correspondence from other business segments to him and taking myself completely out of the equation. Besides my job as it stands (outside of what my real job description is) I already have responsibilities that encompass 4 other jobs.

In a nutshell, maybe once he realizes the amount of work that his "go to girl" has been handling on his behalf- he may be able to better control his "machismo". LOL

Please share your thoughts and experiences....
